Things I Want to Do in Life

There are so many things I've found that I want to do over the course of my life!

One of these things used to be to read a good chunk of the authors on this list. Thanks to Gutenberg, I now consider that done. Now, I want to read just about every novel on this list. Riding the subway every day, I'm working at this one!

Another thing I always wanted to do was to learn to tat. Tatting is an old-fashioned lace making technique that looks like this:

(DISCLAIMER: I did not make this. It was a winning fair entry I found online.)

Tatting can be learned from books, but having someone show you is much easier. And most of the people who knew how to tat were of our great-grandmas' generation. So, I feel quite fortunate that a friend of a friend gave me lessons right after I graduated from high-school.

Then there is the math. Someday, I want to work all the way through Euclid's Thirteen Books of Geometry. And I also want to teach myself Algebra II.

But right now, I'm tackling another item on my wish list. I'm taking tap dancing classes.

Two classes in, I'm realizing I may not ever be the next Ginger Rodgers, but I'm hoping that I might sound good enough to do a little choreographed piece. So far, though, I feel like I'm all left feet!

Next time we get to see each other for a real visit you have to teach me to tat. That is awesome.

I can't believe you are doing tap lessons! I have been wanting to take a dance class for some time now. I go back and forth between ballet and tango. Getting my husband to go along seems daunting....so probably ballet =)

I think it's great that you are taking tap-dancing lessons. Where do you take them? Did you know that Ron always wanted to be Fred Astaire?

This is a very good list, and I'm glad that you are working on it. My heart goes a little limp watching Fred and Ginger.

Ooooh, good for you! I took tap lessons a year ago and thought it was fun -- AND challenging!
